About The Event

As I am traveling this year, the birth of Siddhartha Gautama (Shakyamuni Buddha) is not celebrated with the bathing ritual as usual. Instead, a quiet, intense half-day Sesshin will take place.

Take the opportunity to spend the morning in silence doing only zazen (sitting meditation) and kinhin (walking meditation).

The silence is only interrupted with the sound of Keisu 磬子 (bowl gong) , Inkin 引鏧 (hand gong), 鈴 Rei (small bell) and Taku 柝 (wooden clappers) to mark meditation periods, kinhin, chanting and teaching.

Schedule: In 2021 this Sesshin will take place only online. Practice begins at 8:00am and ends at 12:00. To learn more about the schedule, please follow the link.

Practice will be performed in silence, but if any verbal communication is required it will either be in German or English. The practice is led by Doka Sensei.

If you are new to long Zen practices or to Hinotori Zendo, please contact the teacher for further information.
