DAILY ZEN CLASSES IN HINOTORI ZENDO
The Zazen I speak of is not meditation practice, it is simply the dharma gate of joyful ease. The practice realization of totally culminated enlightenment. It is the koan realized. Traps and snares can never reach it. If you grasp the point, you are like a dragon gaining the water. Like a tiger taking to the mountains.
Zen training aims to release Self from concepts developed by the intellect and thus to become Mu 無. As soon as Mu is attained, the self dissolves completely, the boundary between Me and others disappear, and the dualism is transcended. We enter the state of “no mind”, mushin no shin (無心の心) and a Life beyond the control of intellect, concepts and Ego. Lived with the state of “no-mind”, Life becomes the Zen Path.
Zen training performed in Hinotori Zendo emphasizes the row experience of the present moment through transmission without words, and the practice of "nothing but sitting" Shikantaza (只管打坐) (1) , that opens up to Source directly, non-dualistically and without a disturbing Ego.

Hinotori is a small zendo and only accepts 5 students per session. Pre-registration/ cancellation is therefore mandatory. Please, arrive no later than 10 min before the beginning of meditation. 5 minutes before the start, the Zendo door is closed. If you are visiting Hinotori Zendo for the first time or have no experience with Zazen, please contact the teacher for further instructions.
Please, read Guidelines before you start with the training. Guidelines are intended to support your practice and create an atmosphere of respect, tranquility and compassion.
This practice is intended for anyone who wants to end suffering, develop awareness and attain awakening.
For those who want to overcome stress and wish more clarity and focus in daily life, a guided urban zen practice may be a better choice.
The recommended tuition fees are based on the principles of Dana practice. If you can donate more, this will be greatly appreciated as Zendo cannot work without your contribution. However, if you cannot pay the suggested amount, contact Zendo to find a solution. Money should never be an obstacle to your practice.
If you are serious about finding your true nature, you have to expand your practice beyond Zazen. The practice should include not only cleaning the mind, but also cleaning the karma through mindfulness of ordinary life (when working, cleaning, cooking, eating, preparing and drinking tea, using the toilet and bath, sleeping, communicating, ...). Disciples at this level should be determined to dissolve the Ego, give up duality and discrimination, discipline their minds and bodies, cultivate generosity and compassion, and finally wake up to bliss.
You will be supported in this through Mondo (public questions to teacher), Dokusan and Dharma Interview (personal conversation with teacher), teachings, intensive trainings (Zazenkai, Intro Sessions and weekend Sesshins), One-Month Sami-Residential Zen Training and more.
An awakened person does not identify with a single tradition or religion. She recognizes the essence in everything and everyone.
