Daoist Medicine

MATERIAL METHODS

Herbology

Daoist Herbology is a two-part study of herbs. The first part is analysis of all plants, animals, and minerals to determine their nutritional values (proteins, vitamins, minerals, etc.), energy levels, and other chemical compositions. The second part is determining which parts of the human body each particular herb affects most and how those parts are affected. This also involves preparation of the part of the herb most suited for utilisation.

The entire process from harvest over preparation to application relies on principles that enhance the healing effect.

Doka Sensei uses modern research and ancient knowledge that has been collected over centuries, whether in East or West, South or North. However, the application focus is more on local plants.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is used in Daoist medicine as a technique that involves the burning of mugwort, a small, spongy herb, to facilitate healing.  Moxibustion has been used in China for thousands of years. The purpose of moxibustion is to strengthen the blood, stimulate the flow of energy, and maintain general health and wellness.

Moxibustion can be used at various ways: locally in moxy-boxes,  or in a form of a moxa stick.  It is frequently used for people who have a cold or stagnant condition.

This technique expels cold and warms the meridians, leading to a smoother flow of blood and energy.

The method is only offered to students practicing in Zendo to support the general improvement of their condition and their further development.

Cupping

Cupping is one of the oldest methods in Taoist medicine. It is mostly performed by using power of the vacuum created by the glass cups.  The vacuum anchors the cup to the skin and pulls it what helps to stimulate the flow of blood, balance the flow of energy, break up obstructions, and create a channel for toxins to be drawn out of the body.

Cupping is used for variety of issues: to treat arthritis, gastrointestinal disorders and certain types of pain.

The method is only offered to students practicing in Zendo to support the general improvement of their condition and their further development.

Acupressure

Acupressure has been used in China for centuries. It works by applying pressure to acupuncture points and meridians to remove blockages that prevent the free flow of energy. Removing these blockages restores the balance of energy in the body, leading to better health and more vitality. It is best suited for rectifying chronic pain, musculoskeletal conditions, and stress-related disorders. Acupressure treatment results in improvements to the whole body, not just to a specific area.

The method is only offered to students practicing in Zendo to support the general improvement of their condition and their further development.

Guasha

Guasha is a therapeutic method for pain management using tools to scrape or rub the surface of the body to relieve blood stagnation.

Guasha is also used to treat common cold, flu, respiratory problems and musculoskeletal pain.

The method is only offered to students practicing in Zendo to support the general improvement of their condition and their further development.
